A major accident took place in Uttar Pradesh’s Hamirpur district early Friday morning after a portion of an under-construction bridge over the Betwa River collapsed. According to officials, six labourers lost their lives while three others were injured in the tragic incident. The collapse occurred around 3 am between Parsani and Kandaur villages.

Officials said the bridge slab, being constructed between Maurakandar and Kurara, suddenly gave way following a storm. Several labourers involved in the construction work were reportedly sleeping on the upper section of the slab when it collapsed, trapping them under the debris. Panic spread across the area immediately after the incident.
Rescue teams and local administration officials rushed to the site and launched a rescue operation to pull workers out from the rubble. The injured labourers were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Authorities have started an investigation into the incident, and the possibility of negligence in construction work is also being examined.
