The Delhi High Court has awarded compensation of more than ₹1 crore to the family of a fourth-year engineering student of Netaji Subhas University of Technology who died in a road accident in 2017. The court also granted over ₹84 lakh in compensation to the family of another engineering student who lost his life in the same accident.

The judgment was delivered by Justice Anish Dayal while hearing appeals filed by the families of the two students seeking enhanced compensation. The pleas challenged the compensation amounts awarded by the Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) in September 2020.
Observing the facts and circumstances of the case, the High Court revised the compensation payable to the victims’ families, providing greater financial relief for the loss suffered. The ruling underscores the judiciary’s role in ensuring fair compensation in fatal road accident cases.
