New Delhi has been placed under heightened security as India prepares to host the BRICS Leaders’ Summit from September 11 to 13 at Bharat Mandapam. With leaders and senior delegations from BRICS member countries arriving in the capital, security agencies have deployed thousands of personnel and strengthened surveillance around key locations and VVIP routes.
The heightened security has also brought significant traffic restrictions across the city. Delhi Traffic Police has identified more than 35 roads for controlled movement and 22 diversion points, while commuters have been advised to plan their journeys in advance and use the Metro wherever possible.
The arrangements are aimed at ensuring the safe movement of foreign leaders and delegations throughout the summit. Authorities have also urged residents to follow official traffic advisories, allow extra travel time and avoid restricted routes during VVIP movements.
