History Is Key to Understanding the Present and Future: Pradeep Malik

Barwala (Panchkula): The historical archival exhibition organised by the Haryana Archives Department at Government Postgraduate College, Barwala, concluded on Saturday. The exhibition had been organised since July 17.

Pradeep Malik, Deputy Director of the Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission, and Deepak Sura, AMC of Ambala Municipal Corporation, were present at the closing ceremony. College Principal Dr. Narendra Siwach welcomed both guests.

Pradeep Malik said that history is not merely a story of the past, but a strong foundation for understanding the present and determining the direction of the future. He said that an individual learns from history, understands the present and envisions the future.

He said that history should not be limited only to books and examinations. “Archives are the voice of the past, which communicate with future generations.”

Assistant Professor of History Dr. Praveen, while providing information about the exhibition, said that it featured rare historical documents related to the 1857 uprising, the Ambala revolt, the revolutionaries of Hansi, Queen Victoria’s Proclamation of 1858, the first session of the Indian National Congress, Mahatma Gandhi’s arrest in Palwal, and the Indian National Army, along with materials related to Haryana and the Indian freedom struggle.

Rare manuscripts, historical photographs and archival records were also displayed at the exhibition. College teachers and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
