The Union Sports Ministry has approved a 503-member Indian contingent for the 2026 Asian Games, marking a major step in the country’s preparations for the continental multi-sport event. The contingent will include athletes and support staff across several sporting disciplines.
The 2026 Asian Games are scheduled to be held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4. Indian athletes will compete across multiple sports, with the contingent aiming to build on the country’s performances in previous editions.
The approval comes as Indian sporting federations and athletes continue their preparations for the Games. The final participation list and event-wise entries will determine the number of Indian athletes competing in each discipline.
