Two terrorists were killed in an overnight encounter with security forces in the Majalta area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district. The operation was launched after security forces received intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists in the Brattal Sohan and Khubban forest areas.
The joint operation involved the Army’s White Knight Corps, Jammu and Kashmir Police and the CRPF. According to officials, the two slain terrorists were identified as Pakistani nationals linked to the proscribed Jaish-e-Mohammad outfit. Weapons and ammunition, including an AK assault rifle, an M4 carbine, a Glock pistol and grenades, were recovered from the site.
Security forces have intensified search and surveillance operations in the surrounding forested areas to check for any remaining militants. A suspected over-ground worker was also detained for questioning as authorities continue investigating the network and possible links connected to the operation.
